Pichu is a localized Ayurvedic therapy where a cotton pad soaked in medicated oil is placed over a specific area of the body to relieve pain, stiffness, and inflammation. It is particularly beneficial for conditions affecting the head, spine, joints, and soft tissues. Pichu is a gentle yet highly effective treatment for neuromuscular disorders, chronic pain, and degenerative conditions.
This therapy is widely used for:
Headaches and migraines
Cervical and lumbar spondylosis
Joint pain and arthritis
Neurological conditions like paralysis
Stress and anxiety relief
Pichu is known to balance Vata and Pitta doshas, reducing dryness, stiffness, and inflammation while promoting relaxation and healing.
The selected medicated oil is warmed to a comfortable temperature. A thick cotton pad or sterile gauze is soaked in the medicated oil. The patient is made to lie down comfortably depending on the area being treated.
The oil-soaked cotton pad is placed over the affected area (head, spine, joints, etc.). The pad is kept in place for 20–30 minutes, ensuring deep absorption. The oil is reheated and reapplied if needed to maintain warmth. In some cases, the cotton pad is gently pressed to enhance oil penetration.
The area is gently wiped with a soft cloth. The patient is advised to rest for at least 30 minutes after therapy. Avoid exposure to cold air, direct sunlight, or heavy exertion for a few hours. A light Ayurvedic diet may be recommended to support healing.
Pichu is a simple yet powerful localized Ayurvedic therapy that helps in pain relief, joint lubrication, and nervous system rejuvenation. It is particularly effective for headaches, arthritis, spondylosis, and neurological conditions. Regular sessions can enhance flexibility, reduce pain, and improve overall well-being.
